Kits mewled in the den- frightened by the sounds of heavy rain pounding down onto rock. Their mother hushed them carefully and wrapped her tail soothingly over them, though they did not fall entirely quiet. Beside the queen, a long-limbed she-cat crouched, sniffing carefully at the kits, checking for any scent of sign of sickness. Aparrently satisfied, she nodded and stood, approaching a brown tom further back in the den.
"Finished with the tansy?" The she-cat, Longstride, had a deep, rumbling voice. Any cat could mistake it for a growl; especially when considering her infamous temper.
The brown tom pushed a pile of herbs which he had b
